Using the bit on 1/8 inch thickness steel I found my small drill press lacking in power when I got passed 3/8 inch holed size so I used my 1/2 inch hand drill and could drill to 3/4 inch hole size without bogging down the tool. Cannot say how long it will hold up since I only need it two or three times a year.
